Footwear is the most honest part of a wardrobe. It is the closest thing to the ground, the first to show neglect, and the slowest to earn its place. NØRVIK approaches shoes with the same methodology applied to everything else: begin with the best available material, construct with methods designed to last, and make very few.
Our shoes are Goodyear welted throughout — a construction method in which the upper, welt, and sole are stitched together in a process that allows the sole to be re-welted indefinitely. The leather is sourced from Italian tanneries who have been producing for couture houses for generations. The lasts are carved from beech wood and held in-house, which means every shoe off the same last will fit identically.
The NØRVIK footwear collection is deliberately small. We make the shoes that complete a wardrobe built on our clothing — the Derby for business and evening, the Chelsea for ease, the boot for severity. Each piece is numbered. Each is made to be kept.

What is Goodyear welting?
Goodyear welting is a construction method in which the upper is stitched to a strip of leather (the welt), which is then stitched to the sole. The advantage over cemented construction is that the sole can be replaced when it wears, extending the life of the shoe indefinitely.
What leather does NØRVIK use?
We source full-grain Italian calfskin from tanneries in the Veneto and Tuscany — the same suppliers used by French and Italian couture houses. Full-grain leather retains the natural surface of the hide and develops a patina unique to each wearer over time.
How do I care for NØRVIK shoes?
Polish regularly with a colour-matched cream polish applied with a horsehair brush. Allow the shoe to rest at least 24 hours between wearings with cedar shoe trees inserted. Have the sole resoled by a specialist before it wears through to the welt.
How do I determine my size?
NØRVIK footwear uses European sizing. We recommend measuring your foot in the evening when it is at its largest, and selecting the nearest full size up. Refer to the sizing guide for conversion from UK and US sizes.
